sunday stash

It's been a while since I took part in Tam's stash sharing party. Maybe the guilt of fabric shopping has been getting to me. Maybe only a bit, it hasn't stopped me getting excited and NEEDING new stuff.

I know materialism is a hideous bi-product of our modern culture, it's the driving force behind lazy folk that don't want to work, but want to consume. Part of the celebrity envy of the Western world. But can I NOT include fabric shopping in there? It's not a fancy designer handbag or pair of shoes. It's not a watch covered in diamonds. In theory I can sew the fabric together to make useful things. Clothes (ok, I can't, but someone could), bags, and (above all) quilts.

And how gorgeous would this stack be sewn up into a quilt for a little person? (yes, I am obsessed with babies at the minute - I've got pregnant friends coming out of my ears). I'm not so keen on the orange and browns, but someone will sew that together and I'll see it and then start drooling. Happens all the time when I think I don't much like a colour combo.

This is Willow by Alexander Henry, bought from FabricWorm. And only bought because I had a 10% off coupon. I am so easily bought.

I'm pretty sure fabric shopping doesn't count...

Just looking at those fabrics makes me happy. Doesn't that count for a lot?

ahhh...its been some time since I've taken part in Sunday Stash and I'm supposed to be the host! The fact that I have no access to my computer or my craft supplies has made it all a bit difficult...the 6 of us living out of three rooms...well lets just say that that kinda makes things tricky...did I mention a baby to arrive in about 3 weeks! Must clear a drawer....

Okay I've had my whinge...

I love your stash...I had all these dreams of making little quilts for my little one, I have managed to crochet one blanket and thats it!

Take Care Katy,

Tam xo

I LOVE that line but don't need any more fabric! I should keep repeating that to myself!

Thought I'd let you know that the aqua chambray is not being made any more. You might want to get some.

I'm sure you know about Liberty at Target.

I need to write you!

I too, could be very easily swayed with (or without) a 10% discount coupon. Those fabrics are lovely.

Oh, that's too bad that my posts aren't showing up in your reader - frustrating!

Thanks you for the comment on my eyelashes, hehe! They're giving me a pain right now, because the snow is very much attracted to them and I can't see in front of myself when it's coming down!

I get incredibly nervous too! I'm always worried that people won't like me, or that I'll say something wrong, etc. It's getting better as I get older, but it's still very hard to deal with.

I completely understand the color combo thing Katy! I didn't think I much liked black in quilts but I've seen so many cool quilts with black lately that I can no longer say that. The only color I'm still having a problem with is purple. I like purple, but it just doesn't seem right in a quilt for some reason. What's up with that?

I haven't stashed in so long....but I'm back now and going to re-join. I'm heading to a country crawling with awesome fabric: Japan. I'll share my finds soon!

It is my goal (and I think I'm making good progress - fingers crossed) to dig into my stash and use all the pieces I've been saving for 'someday' and get rid of the stuff I don't really fancy so much anymore. And I'm trying desperately not to add too much more. But darn that Fabricworm is making it tricky!
