This will end up being by far the biggest quilt I've ever made. Although in actual fact, with fabric swaps, the help of incredibly awesome friends and my busy bees group I won't make many of the blocks at all. Not even half of them. That excites me even more. I'm wondering what I should do about the backing. Piece a scrappy backing? Make it more uniform? Binding will be black again - I love how it framed scrap vomit part one.
Now. Whilst we are playing with mosaics, I have a packing for market dilemma.
This is what I'm taking - (apologies for the blurry pic)

So what shoes do I pack? I'm limiting myself to one pair. One will already be on my feet, one to go in the case.

What's a girl to bring? They have to last me all day and all night (hence there's no heels - I die after 2 minutes in heels). Do I go for the ever faithful 3 strap flats, that go with everything and I live in all the time, or should I venture out into the world of tennis shoe/ballet pump crossovers? Or do I go all 'check out the freaky girl with tattoos and shoes that aren't a proper pair' with those kind of crazy one cream, one blue oxfords? It's a tough decision and I can't do it alone.

I'm not good with decisions but I would definitely make sure they are comfy
where can i get those ever faithful 3 strap flats. your shoes are awesome. must be all day comfy.
i'd go with the converse or the ballet pumps with the black bows as they are cute and comfy looking.
i'd take the cream sneakers and then it's a toss up between the 3 straps and the crazy oxfords for me. prolly the 3 straps for wearing out at night, they look like they'd look quite dressy with the right kinda outfit that you'd def rock in.
Eeek, I've got serious wardrobe and shoe envy! Are those middle left ones Vivienne Westwood? If not, flippin amazing copies!! TAKE THEM ALL, TAKE THEM ALL.
phew, sorry about that, excitement over!
Oxfords! Oxfords! Oxfords! They are my brand new favouritest shoes EVER!
Oh, my....you have AMAZING shoes!! I'd say forget looks and just go by which are the most comfortable!!
yeah, scrappy quilts will always be my love. keep making them! :o)
i just wear doc martens all the time, so i'm no help on the shoes...
(Gasp) I am in LOVE with the three strap flats! I want some! Definitely take those and then close your eyes and pick a second pair - they're all fantastic.
P.S. If you receive some angry mail from a man who does not want to talk about quilting, it will be from my husband...because now I have to go shoe shopping! (Really, I have to!)
I see that I talked some sense into you by going for 'only' two pairs of shoes! yay! I would go for the crazy pair and either the flat mary jane kind of shoes or the sneakers. One pair has to be comfy!
If you don't bring the red-toed Oxfords I will cry!!!
I'd go the 3 strap flats, they sound like you are used to them and they have that perfect combo of comfy/dressy/cool. They are gorgeous by the way! Do tell us where they're from! I think the tan & brown oxfords should be your other pair - based on the clothes I reckon they'd go best. Enjoy!! Is my dream to go to quilt market one day...
Those freaky one blue, one cream oxfords rock my world! That said, the 3 strap flats are what you're most comfortable in, and ultimately peeps probably won't be looking at your feet anyway... Go for comfort!
Comfy, comfy and comfy. If you have the 3 straps broken in they will be comfy and look great as well. Pack those and wear the balley pumps or converse as they will be easier at airport security if they make you take them off.
love the non-matching ones, and the bottom right ones with bows are also completely cute
I agree with up-thread. Whichever ones are the most comfy. You will hate yourself if you rub a blister. Oh, and take some bandaids in case you do.
At my age, a tad bit younger than you, I go for comfort over style any day! I vote for the three strap ones!
3 strap flats and brown tan oxfords, no question here.
bottom right. :)
Sneakers and either ballet flats or 3 strappers!
I'd say the most comfortable. They're all pretty cute shoes, so you can't really go wrong!
if it were me, I think I'd go with 3 straps (comfort when traveling v important) and the oxfords (red/blue).
I'd say bring the sneaks (you never know what our weather will be like here in SLC-you might have to brave snow-although most likely not), and the three straps, cause you can't leave your fave pair home!
I'd say definitely take the 3 strap flats since you KNOW they are comfortable. If it were me I'd take the non matchy pair (LOVE THOSE! Where can I get some?!) ot the flats with the black bows. I love both of those!
I vote for the mismatched one and the three strap one. you have to stand out against all the fabulous fabrics!
you crack me up.
i'm wearing sneakers on the plane.. and bringing my black flats & another pair of flats. no heels for me too.
i vote tennis shoe/ballet pump crossovers
Without question: freaky girl with tattoos and mismatched Oxfords. Obviously. You gotta shake 'em up in SLC!! The lace up tennies might be welcome on the show floor and no matter what other 2 pairs you choose, you can totally FIT those tie-me-up sandals in!!
Hmm - know about the packing dilemas!!!Argh! Anyway just about to board the plane and I've managed to squeeze in 2 pairs of shoes and wear my boots (it's pretty cold in SLC on Monday/Tuesday!!!!) Hope we get to see you there.
I veer towards the pumps - quick release option, especially on the plane! The 3 buckle beauties too. Have fun.
Katy,
Wear the shoes that give you the most support and comfort as your feet will be tired from all the walking.
Love the mosaic quilt- I hope you have a fabulous time in Salt Lake City.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna
I have the same dilemma for market. I think I'm gonna to wear sneakers on the plane so I can pretend that I'll hit the hotel gym and then pack black ballet flats for market.
Stop by our booth #1941!
I would either go with the ballet flats or the neutral tennis shoes. They would go with anything in any weather.
Top left, and bottom right. :-)
I like the white tennis shoes. They look comfy for lots of walking!
The mismatched oxfords are so great!
That quilt is stunning! I love the scrappy pieces missed with plains in a pattern. Fantastic.
