Not sure how to make a start?
Confused by the papers and the hand sewing?
Do you like this quilt?
Or maybe you'd like to progress from hexagons and onto something with more shapes?
Want to come to mine and spend a day learning the basics?
Including;
- cutting and basting shapes
- fussy cutting
- using templates
- sewing shapes together
- progressing to how to plan a quilt or larger project
I'm going to have a fun and informal workshop at mine (near Junction 38 of the M1 in West Yorkshire, not far from Wakefield, Huddersfield, and Leeds) on Sunday February 19th. It will be a day's workshop, from 10-3pm with lunch included as well as tea, coffee and biccies.
The price is £35 for the day, with templates, papers, fabric (you get to rummage through my scrap box and pick your own) and everything else you need to make a start included in the price. You just need to bring yourself.

English paper piecing is where my quilting journey began when I was 15. I had always wanted to make a quilt and my mother bought a magazine with some english paper piecing instructions in it and my journey began. Still have the hexie top, it will probably never be a quilt, but it brings back wonderful memories for me.
Oh. And I'd definitely come to yours, but I live in Melbourne. Too far!
Nooo, I want to come but you are 5 hours drive so I cant. I just started my first english paper piecing project this week so the timing is perfect, gutted but oh well. I do love your quilt though and those other shapes look fab too

This is how I learned to patchwork / quilt, back when we lived in Manchester. Too bad yours is too far away for me, otherwise I would have been there in a flash ....

Yes! I would dearly love to attend your workshop. And, if I where anywhere in the UK then (which actually I am sometimes), I'd definitely be there. But, alas, I'm pretty sure I'll be in Philadelphia on February 19th (maybe I can convince hubby to take a quick trip - LOL!)

hmmm, tempting, but add the price of a plane ticket and I think I'll have to pass on this one. Darn, another reason I wish we lived in the same area. But, I will be there in spirit. Maybe we can skype during the class and I can pretend I am there sipping tea and learning from a real English Paper Piecer. Color me sad...

Well, I'm going to hope you do this down in Lowestoft and not on a Sunday, cos I work Sundays, but I would love to do this workshop because I am in love with your quilt which is a rare tribute as I'm really more of a Nancy Crow type person and it's a long time since I liked anything with a traditional twist that much ( revcherylc@aol.com- sorry didn't have any of the accounts they mentioned)
That sounds like a lot of fun. Sadly the trip to England brakes the bank. Will look forward to reading more about it here though as you teach others.

Well hexagons are great. It is fun to take them on. That gray quilt with the hexies is fantastic.
did you use voile for those hexies? OMG that is fantastic.

Oh how I wish that I didn't live at the other end of the country! I would be there like a flash! Maybe we can tempt you down this way to do a workshop another time?
