jelly roll jam

There's some exciting news over at Fat Quarter Shop today, Kimberly and the team are sharing their very first shortcut quilt pattern with a video tutorial and a free downloadable pattern.

The Jelly Roll Jam quilt uses just half a jelly roll to make a perfectly sized 36.5" square baby quilt. Or use the whole jelly roll and make 2 quilts.
I timed myself in making my quilt top, it took me under 2 hours from unrolling the jelly roll to pressing the top. This is a great last minute baby shower gift, or fast quilt for a sewing retreat or sew-in day with friends. The instructions are really simple to follow, so it's also great as a first quilt, and being small it's manageable for anyone to make and quilt themselves.

Check out the video on You Tube and download your free pattern from Fat Quarter Shop

For my version, I used 30's playtime by Chloe's Closet for Moda because I do love a 30s repro, and it makes a really classic baby quilt. (UK peeps - Justine has a few of these in stock)
I just need to quilt this up and get it finished (and I still have half a jelly roll left, so I think I'll use the leftover strips to make more scrappy trips blocks for my repros version)

Thanks to Kimberly and the team at Fat Quarter Shop for sharing the wonderful Jelly Roll Jam pattern with me, and giving me the chance to try it out before it was released - I can see this being a firm favourite whenever I need a baby quilt!

Gorgeous! I might just have to unroll those feedsack and feedsack-likes I brought back from FQR and try this!

I think I found just the thing to use up some of those jelly rolls I have sitting on the shelf.

I love the simplicity of this and can see it becoming my must have pattern for baby quilts. Being so quick is a bonus too.

I love the 30's repros too. Actually I might have enough to cut my own jelly roll from my stash!! LOL
